El Monte City School District has named eight new administrators for the 2020-21 school year, including Cortada School Principal Carl Caston.
Caston has worked for El Monte City School District since 1997, including 13 years as a classroom teacher. He has taught fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades, including math, social studies, science, PE and language arts.
For 10 years, he has been an assistant principal, assigned to the Opportunity Center, Durfee, Rio Hondo and Potrero schools.
Caston earned a Bachelor of Arts in physical education and Master of Arts in education from the University of La Verne.
“This coming year I want to work with the staff and community of Cortada School to increase the academic achievement for all students. For the past few years, Cortada has been making positive progress increasing student achievement and I would like for us to continue that progress to help Cortada School become the next California Distinguished School in the El Monte City School District,” Caston said.
